2020 Highlights & What’s New for 2021!
It’s a brand new year, and we’re looking forward to celebrating with you! 2020 brought lots of updates and renovations for us at Balsam Lake Pro-Lawn. We expanded our landscape material lot and created a new waterfall landscape design with our old ’46 Chevy truck. Because of your incredible support and loyalty, we had a fun and successful year. Thank you! We are honored to be a part of this wonderful community!
2021 will be a big year for us, as we celebrate our 20th Anniversary! We look forward to continuing to improve upon our retail, garden center, and floral services. Look for new trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, and more!
The demand for floral and garden center classes has grown, and this year, we’ll offer even more classes, video tutorials, and partnerships with local businesses!
We also look forward to expanding our on-site training center to continue our professional learning and education in the green industry.
Over the last 20 years, we have been proud to be a family-owned and operated business with a dedicated crew that has become family.

Snowshoe Race Set For Feb 6
Now more than ever, we all need something to look forward to! Set the date on your calendar, and join us Saturday, February 6, 2021 for our 10th annual 5K trail race! This is a fun outdoor winter activity for everyone. Bring your friends, your family, your dogs, and your sense of adventure for an enjoyable day on a beautiful trail through Balsam Lake.
Check-in begins Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 9am at the American Legion in Pine Park located at 311 Tuttle Street, Balsam Lake, WI. To encourage safe social-distancing, as inside registration at the location is limited, you must pre-register! The pre-registration fee is $15 for both walkers and runners. Registration after January 29, 2021 is $20. All proceeds go toward the improvement of Pine Park. Each participant will receive a goodie bag on race day at check-in. The race begins at Pine Park, follows a designated trail route through the beautiful wooded areas surrounding Balsam Lake, and ends on the Mill Pond. Water will be provided before and after the race. Prizes will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in the kids, women’s, and men’s division. Pre-registered participants will be eligible to win Door Prizes!

Autumn Updates From Balsam Lake Pro-Lawn
The leaves are falling, and our fall clean-ups start this week! The crews will be working hard to clean up lawns and leaves, cut back garden beds, and prune shrubs. Now is the time to prepare your lawns and landscapes for winter
“Trick-or-Treats” will soon be calling, and we have whimsical gifts for every kid and every adult this season! Brighten someone’s day with a beautiful fall bouquet! For a fun Halloween surprise, add a troll, dragon, or fairy to your child’s trick-or-treat bag! Grab a box of delicious, hand-made Halloween chocolates that are so good they’re scary! SEPTEMBER IS GREAT AT THE LAKE
September marks the last of summer and the start of fall! Enjoy sunny days, cooler weather, colorful autumn blooms, and changing leaves! Make the best of these beautiful times!
Our garden center is full of blooms for some pop of color in fall! Late-flowering perennials like echinacea, sedum, grasses, hardy mums, and hydrangea shrubs provide your garden with long-lasting color and season-long interest. We also have a huge variety of beautiful annual mums available! They make great gifts and add a welcoming touch to your home and outdoor spaces!
If you’re planning a Labor Day BBQ, or a late-season outdoor gathering, spice things up with Smokin’ Brother’s famous wood BBQ pellets and their delicious BBQ sauces and seasonings!
With the cooler temperatures and wetter weather, it’s the perfect time for landscape projects like planting, mulching, and pruning! Get those perennials, shrubs and trees into the ground now, so they’ll be all set to grow in the spring! Come in and check out our wide variety of autumn shade trees and fruit trees including apple trees, cherry trees, and plum trees! Now is also a great time to add mulch to your landscaping, helping to spruce your gardens up and protect your plants over the winter. We’ve also got a wonderful variety of bagged and bulk mulch! Fall is the best time to prune your shrubs to keep them tidy for next year. If you’d like to deadhead your perennials and grasses, you could do that, too. Or, keep the foliage and seeds standing as habitat for nature and added year-long garden interest.
September lawn-care is an important process to keep your lawns lush and healthy! Aerate your lawns to loosen the soil, prevent soil compaction, get air into the grass root zone, and prep for over-seeding. Grass seed grows best in cooler, wetter weather, so over-seed now to fill in those bare spots and thicken up your lawn. September into October is the ideal time to apply winterizer, which adds nutrients to your lawn and prepares it for winter dormancy.
